Before you drive: vehicle checks
When you collect the vehicle
- Confirm your tour dates and the vehicle model and registration.
- Note the odometer reading, who handed over the vehicle, and the date and time.
- Inspect the outside and inside together. Point out existing scratches, damage or faults.
- Record a 360-degree video and send it to the person responsible for the vehicle.
- Repeat the inspection and video when you return the vehicle, noting the date and time.
Check the papers

- Agrément.
- Annual vehicle tax for vehicles with PTAC over 3,000 kg (not applicable to vehicles at or below 3,000 kg).
- Tachograph paper discs (buses and minibuses).
- Manifest.
- Check the tinted-window homologation paperwork if it applies to the vehicle.
- Check your driving licence and the relevant driver documents.
- Verify the current requirements for your vehicle and work separately.
Check the equipment and vehicle
- Check the fire extinguisher's expiry date and gauge.
- Open the first-aid box and check its contents.
- Check the tyres, spare wheel, jack and tools.
- Check the engine oil and the service record or last vidange.
- Compare the kilometres remaining until the next service with the kilometres of your planned tour.
- Check every passenger seat belt.
- Plan your fuel stops.
- Learn the dashboard and air-conditioning controls before meeting passengers.
- Check the phone charger or adaptor.
- Clean the passenger area and windows.
- Prepare the manifest; collect the traveler's signature at pickup.
Resolve problems before pickup
- Tell the person responsible about any fault that needs attention.
- Confirm what has been resolved and when. A fault is still a fault until it has been dealt with.
